Following consideration of the current workload pressures impacting on front line operations, a decision has been reached that transfer reviews for the Year 9 cohort required by the Department for Education (DfE) to be completed by the end of the academic year 2015-16 can, with agreement of families and schools, be postponed to later in the transfer review timeline.

This decision has been taken to enable families to receive a good quality approach to their child's transfer review following the principles of person centredness and co-production which the current high volume of work is making difficult to achieve.

By giving families the choice to postpone, we are offering them the chance to receive a good quality, person-centred experience of working in co-production with the local authority. However, if a parent is not in agreement to postpone their child's transfer review, their transfer review will be held as usual.

These postponed transfer reviews for the Year 9 cohort will now take place during academic year 2016-17 or 2017-18 but in all cases will be complete by the overall transfer review deadline of 31 March 2018.

Please can SENCos work with their assigned EHCP Coordinator to ensure that parents of Year 9 children due to have a transfer review this academic year are made aware of our decision to postpone their child's transfer review and be assured of a good quality approach in due course. A usual transition review of the child's statement will need to be held where a transfer review is not taking place. Where parents express their wish for a transfer review to be undertaken, we would be appreciative if you could let your EHCP Coordinator know.
