Update to the Norfolk ESafety Toolkit

The Norfolk ESafety Toolkit has been updated by the Online Safety Group. This toolkit is available for any school to use to support the writing and revision of their online safety policy. This toolkit includes a model policy and various example documents.

Norfolk Schools Website link to the toolkit.

The toolkit has been updated to reflect changes in the current curriculum and use of terminology. Esafety is now referred to as online safety In line with current Ofsted practise. The updated toolkit will be referred to as the Online Safety Toolkit. The other changes reflect the move from the ICT curriculum to the new computing curriculum and take into account the latest guidance from Ofsted, DfE and the National Education Network.

With the changes to school broadband suppliers, it will be very important that schools are aware of the guidance from the National Education Network outlining the requirements for a school broadband connection.

The broadband contract procured by the Local Authority meets the National Education Network guidance. Schools need to ensure that any other broadband provider can meet these requirements to provide curriculum delivery and the administrative and operational needs of the school.

The consultation by the DfE on Keeping children safe in education: proposed changes has now closed. Proposed changes may have an impact on requirements for internet filtering within schools. As soon as the guidance has been published, the Toolkit will be updated to reflect any changes.
