Norfolk Better to Best, 2016-17
As you are aware, NB2B will be continuing for the academic year September 2016 - July 2017. Norfolk County Council will continue to support this strategy but with a reduced grant as we move towards a school-led, self-improving system. There are currently 221 schools working with NB2B; the financial contribution received from these schools enables us to keep our costs down.
The Norfolk Better to Best strategy is designed to provide school and academy leaders and governors with a framework and menu of challenge and support focused on improving leadership, provision and outcomes. Through NB2B, schools and academies are able to access the advice, support and challenge that will help them to accelerate the improvements in their school. The aim is to ensure that this will lead to a judgement of good or better at the next Ofsted Inspection. All Norfolk schools are invited to participate and are able to shape a bespoke programme to support their improvement priorities. The NB2B strategy promotes a school-led self-improving system for Norfolk.
So - what is the NB2B offer?
NB2B Support for School Improvement
Your bespoke NB2B Core Offer might include support for some or all of the following areas:
- SEF
- SIDP/Action Planning
- Curriculum and Assessment
- Performance Information/Data
- Teaching and Learning
- Leadership Development at all levels
- External validation
Your NB2B Enhanced Offer enables us to broker and commission links for your school with local and national programmes and projects.
How will this support for school improvement be provided?
For no additional cost, you can access the following from your Core Offer:
- Workshops (eg SEF, SIDP, Middle Leadership, Data, Curriculum, Website, OSFTED 'Getting to Good' seminars)
- Individual School Support from NB2B Associates (eg Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment Review, Readiness for Inspection visit, Ofsted prep (before, during and after support)
- CPD/Training (eg Leadership Development, Headteacher Support Programme, Lesson Observation, Book scrutiny, New Headteacher induction, NIEAS Subject Networks, NIEAS Advice and Support, School to School Support
- Tea Parties and Conferences (eg Ofsted updates, NB2B updates, Sharing best practice /case studies, School improvement offers (partners, projects etc.), Getting to Outstanding!
All NB2B schools will be provided with free access to The School Bus and the SchoolBusPlus.

Negotiated membership costs:
- Partnerships and Federations (eg three schools for the price of two)
- Academies: Single or in MATs
- Schools with less than 50 on roll.

NB2B is available to purchase via Educator Solutions (previously Services for Schools) - www.educatorsolutions.org.uk The log-in instructions are attached or you can continue to go directly to the SLA site if you have saved this as a 'Favorite'. If you are currently a NB2B school, the option of continuing membership for 2016-17 is available from the 'Quick Buy' form. Please remember to check it out of your basket!
If you wish to sign up to NB2B for the first time, Denise Walker will visit your school to discuss your offer. Please contact Anita Lee, anita.lee@norfolk.gov.uk to arrange a suitable date and time.
Partnerships and Federations: for existing NB2B members in partnership and federation arrangements, please contact me directly - denise.walker@norfolk.gov.uk - and I will send you the cost. You can then check out the baskets for each of your schools and an adjustment will be made accordingly.
Once you have signed up, you will be asked to complete a Request Form to indicate how you would like to shape your NB2B programme.
