Pupil Premium Funding arrangements for Norfolk Looked After Children 2016 - 17

The Pupil Premium funding for Looked After Children is additional funding allocated to schools to support pupils in care of the local authority to raise achievement and help close the attainment gap. In Norfolk the following arrangements have been agreed for the financial year 2016 - 17:-

  • In May 2016 an initial allocation of £1,000 was made to every LAC who was on roll at an LA maintained school/academy as at the 1st April 2016 and had been looked after for 6 months or more.
  • To claim for additional per pupil funding to enable support and interventions over and above the initial £1,000 allocation, or where there is a case for funding Norfolk LAC who have been in care for less than 6 months, schools should complete the Pupil Premium Plus Grant Application form.
  • The application process for funding must be part of the PEP process and any request for funding should relate to targets within the pupil's PEP documentation.
  • All applications for funding within the 2016 – 2017 financial year must be received by the Virtual School by 29th February 2017.

The fund allocated to Norfolk will be managed by the Virtual School Head as per the DFE's 'Pupil Premium 2016 – 2017: Conditions of Grant' and distributed to Norfolk LAC wherever they live. Applications for funding will be approved by the Virtual School Head before payment.

The Pupil Premium for Norfolk Looked After Children Guidance on payment and use for the financial year April 2016 – March 2017 explains the process in detail. A copy of the guidance is enclosed for information and both the guidance and application form can be found on 'Perspective Lite' within the Summer 2016, Looked After Children section. If required, you should download the application, complete it and upload using the tag 'Looked After Children'. In order to ensure the security of pupil level data all applications for funding must be returned via 'Perspective Lite'.
