Arrangements for claiming the Pupil Premium Funding for Norfolk Looked After Children 2017-18
The Pupil Premium funding for Looked After Children is additional funding allocated to schools to support pupils in the care of the local authority to achieve better educational outcomes and help close the attainment gap with their peers. Looked after children in reception through to Year 11 qualify for the funding. The fund allocated to Norfolk is managed by the Virtual School Head as per the DFE's 'Pupil Premium 2017 – 2018: Conditions of Grant' and distributed to schools with Norfolk LAC on roll. Applications for funding will be approved by the Virtual School Head before payment.
In Norfolk the following arrangements apply for the financial year 2017 - 18:-
- An initial automatic allocation of £1,000 during May 2017 per LAC on roll at an LA maintained school/academy as at 1st April 2017 and looked after for 6 months or more
- Applications for additional per pupil funding should be made via the Personal Education Plan, details are included in the target section of the PEP
- This means that schools who received the initial £1,000 allocation can apply for a further £900 via the PEP up to and including the Spring term 2018
- Schools which have not received the initial £1,000 allocation can apply for up to £1,900 funding via the PEP up to and including the Spring Term 2018 PEP
- If the PEP meeting has already taken place this term, please complete an application form and mark it 'PEP' and we will then ensure it is processed
- Evidence of impact for all pupil premium funding for looked after children must be recorded in the PEP and will be needed before subsequent applications are approved
- Additional 'exceptional funding applications'. Where funding is requested for group interventions or projects, applications should be made via Perspective Lite for schools in Norfolk.
- All applications must be received by 23rd February 2018.
The Pupil Premium for Norfolk Looked After Children Guidance on payment and use for the financial year April 2017 – March 2018 explains the process in detail. A copy of the guidance is enclosed for information and both the guidance and application form can be found on 'Perspective Lite' within the Summer 2017, Looked After Children section. In order to ensure the security of pupil level data all applications for funding must be returned via 'Perspective Lite'.
