Children Missing Education and children who have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP)
There have been several issues raised regarding when a pupil with an EHCP leaves a school and their removal from the school roll.
Communication has taken place with the DfE who have confirmed that schools should remove the pupil from the school roll as deletion from the admissions register (and subsequent notification to the LA of CME status) is not affected by the school being named on the child’s EHCP.
The requirements of Section 8 of The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 and The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 stand.
