The booklet 'Recruitment and Equal Opportunities', which can be viewed on: http://schools.norfolk.gov.uk/myportal/index.cfm?s=1&m=61&p=627,index&zs=n is a guide to help you comply with the regulations that apply to recruiting new staff into schools and to help you attract the widest possible field of applicants for any post you may be advertising.
The associated 'Ethnic Monitoring of Applications for Employment in Schools' form will enable you to comply with the statutory duty for schools to monitor the ethnicity of all applicants for all types of vacancy and to communicate this information to the LEA.
WHY?
- To assist in both attracting able and committed staff, and in promoting racial harmony and cultural diversity in our schools
- To help you demonstrate (to OfSTED amongst others) that you are actively complying with current equal opportunities legislation
- To enable you to meet your statutory duty to collect and communicate data on the ethnicity of all applicants for all posts in schools.
HOW?
- Ensure you include the current standard 'Recruitment Monitoring Form' with ALL your application forms. You can download and print copies of this from: http://www.esinet.norfolk.gov.uk/Personnel/vacancies/appforms/recruitment%20monitoring%20form.doc
- Applicants will self-categorise themselves and you will then only have to collate the information onto the electronic 'Ethnic Monitoring of Applications for Employment in Schools' form. The form is accessed as follows: http://schools.norfolk.gov.uk/go/myschool/
Insert your:
DfES code Password
Click on School Administration(This is your standard password, if you don't know what it is, call the ICT Solutions helpdesk on 0845 3033003 and explain why you need it.)
Look through the alphabetical list and click on 'Ethnic Monitoring of Applications for Employment in Schools' Use the forms your applicants returned to complete the spreadsheet Save the completed spreadsheet (using save as) Email it as an attachment to schethmondata.edu@norfolk.gov.uk - Complete one of these forms for every new appointment made to your school.
- You will also need to send the Recruitment Monitoring Form for the successful applicant to your school's Personnel Assistant (at County Hall).
WHEN?
- Every time you go through the process of appointing a new member of staff (teaching and all support staff) to your school.
