KS1 Moderation 2005 Support Through Optional Cluster Meetings

Key Stage 1 Moderation 2005
Support Through Optional Cluster Meetings

As you already know, your school will not be included in the Key Stage 1 Statutory Moderation in 2005. The purpose of this letter is to give you further information about moderation support available to schools not subject to statutory moderation.

For the past five years, schools have been very positive about the benefits to be gained by meeting with colleagues from other schools to discuss issues arising from the end of Key Stage 1 requirements and to have their judgements confirmed. The LEA is keen to continue to provide this support. This year there will be an opportunity for schools, who wish it, to participate in an optional cluster meeting.

Cluster Meetings will be led by a trained LEA moderator. The purpose of the meeting will be to verify the assessments and discuss issues arising. Schools will be able to be confident that their assessment judgements have been confirmed, in addition to the benefits gained from meeting with colleagues from other schools. These meetings will be organised in the cluster and will need to be funded by the schools from an advice and support package or contract (i.e. a half day's cost shared among participating schools).

If you are interested in this option, please liaise with your cluster and the cluster representative and then contact Elizabeth Philpot at the Norwich Professional Development Centre on 01603 433276 ext.136 or email elizabeth.philpot@norfolk.gov.uk by 29th April 2005.
