IMPORTANT Teaching and Learning Responsibility Payments - Review of School Staffing Structure

Teaching and Learning Responsibility Payments

The review of every school's management structure is a legal requirement for every 'Relevant Body' or in the case of local authority schools, the Governing Body. In practice, it is likely that this responsibility will be passed on to Headteachers who have the 'day to day' working knowledge to enable this review to take place. The timescale for this review to be completed is very tight and it should be in place in every school by 31st December, 2005.

Due to this tight timescale and the lack of any formal national training or briefing on this agenda, Norfolk Children's Services Personnel and Remodelling Team put together a briefing session for Headteachers to explain procedures and legal requirements to them. These briefing sessions have been completed and it is now the intention, working with the Governor Support Service (GSS), to offer four briefing sessions for Governors early in the Autumn Term. These will be:

14th September: 19.00 - 21.30 at Great Yarmouth (venue tbc)
15th September: 19.00 - 21.30 at WNPDC
21st September: 10.00 - 12.30 at Easton College
29th September: 19.00 - 21.30 at Norwich PDC.

These sessions can be booked through the GSS via the PDC in Norwich on 01603 433276 and booking forms will be made available by the GSS.

The attached information is designed to provide an outline summary and address a range of frequently asked questions. The full guidance can be downloaded from teachernet.gov.uk. It is hoped that this information, in conjunction with discussions with your Headteacher, will enable you to gain a clear idea of the processes involved in this initiative and also enable you to plan to meet the deadline in time.
