Child Protection Conferences - Details of School Contacts During Holiday Period
FROM: Grace Cheese
As you will already be aware, child protection conferences have to be held within 17 working days of a Section 47 (Children Act 1989) referral and therefore it is essential to have these contact details during the summer period.
Last summer your school was asked to provide these details and 38 child protection conferences were held during the holiday period, involving 50 school age children. If your school was one that provided reports and attended the conference, your assistance was greatly appreciated.
When a child protection conference is called during the holidays Grace Cheese, Education Officer, Child Protection, is notified by the Independent Chairperson. The action Grace Cheese takes is to phone the school contact to ask if a report can be done for the conference and whether someone is able to attend. In limited situations, where only a report is available, arrangements may be made to present the school report (ACPC 1), at the conference, by Grace or another colleague.
Thank you for your co-operation, and please contact Grace Cheese if you wish to discuss further any of the issues raised in this letter.
