14-19 Funding for Collaboration

14-19 funding for collaboration

You will recall that High schools agreed to provide £20 per pupil in Years 10 and 11 from their 2005/06 delegated budget to create a Collaboration Fund to make a start on implementing the 14-19 entitlement curriculum in each area of the county in the 2005/06 school year. Similar funding has now also been made available to Special Schools. The sum of £150,000 has been added to the Fund by the Council. Another £150,000 will be separately allocated by the local Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to support 14-19 developments in the five local areas.

Attached to this letter is a brief document which sets out the expectations of what this funding will achieve and also how groups of schools can access it. The approach it outlines is supported by both the LSC and Connexions as key partners in 14-19 developments. The process is intended to support effective collaboration and to avoid any unnecessary administration. Please be assured that we are happy to look flexibly and creatively at any proposals for collaborative developments which meet the needs of the young people in your area.

I am aware that several of you are already working collaboratively on relevant developments and if you are now ready to make a proposal (see Question 5 attached) please forward it to Yvonne Barclay as soon as possible so that funds can be released swiftly.

I trust this letter answers any questions you may have but if there are any further queries please contact Yvonne by e-mail or telephone. Her contact details are shown at the end of the attached guidance.

As you know, I will be moving away from Norfolk towards the end of August so I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your colleagues every success in taking forward the 14-19 strategy over the coming years.

Further information is being sent out in the post.
