Protocol for County Councillors and Governors when discussing Exclusions with schools
Following the Report of the Cabinet Scrutiny Committee Working Group on Exclusions from Schools, June 2005, the issues of exclusions from school may be raised by County Councillors or members of the Governing Body when visiting schools. They may also wish to raise the issue of unofficial or informal exclusions which are illegal. MI 87/05 gives information about when exclusion is or is not appropriate and MI 170/05 gives additional information on informal exclusions.
A protocol has been drawn up for County Councillors and governors when discussing exclusions with schools, to provide the parameters within which such discussions should occur. It also highlights the most important issues related to exclusions that councillors or governors may wish to raise. This protocol can be found by clicking the above hyperlink.
