Secondary School 2005 Performance Data Analyses

FROM: Chris Jackson (Mrs)
Deputy Head of Management Information Centre

  1. National Consortium for Examination Results (NCER) Reports
NCER reports will be forwarded to you by courier post this week. You will be aware that these are based on PROVISIONAL data provided to NCER by the Examination Boards. Please check for any anomalies, especially where grades have changed, and let me know so that we can update our database. The best place to start is the summary report with "GEDP1" at the beginning of the top line on the right hand side.

We have investigated ways to send you the reports electronically, and the only possibility currently is to send you several PDF documents, each comprising several pages. Let me know if you would like the data in this format on a CD. Although the reports can be printed from these PDFs, please note that you would need PDF writing software to be able to split the pages up to forward electronic copies on to your various departments.

NCER is currently developing a system for schools to have access to their reports via a web browser in the future.

  2. Fischer Family Trust (FFT) Data
You will have received a copy of your KS3 estimates for 2007 to support the target setting process. In addition to this, towards the end of October you will receive:
    1. KS3 estimates for 2008, for setting trajectory targets
    2. KS4 estimates for 2007, based on KS3 2005 results
    3. KS3 estimates against actuals for 2005
    4. KS4 estimates against actuals for 2005

If you need an early dataset for setting KS4 2007 targets, you could use estimates based on KS2 data. If you would like this information, plus ALL your FFT data, on a CD, please request it by email or phone.

  3. Fischer Family Trust document in support of school self-evaluation
By now you will be familiar with the FFT document in support of school self-evaluation, which is accessible via a link in KeyData (under "How High are Standards?") within the "My School" secure area of the EsiNet website: http://www.esinet.norfolk.gov.uk/smr/ The current document is based on data up to and including 2004. The website will be updated with a version incorporating 2005 data at half-term.

I hope this is helpful. As always, I would be very happy to discuss, or provide assistance with, the above, or any other performance data matter, so please don't hesitate to give me a call.
