Explicit content on Social Media
Norfolk Constabulary is aware of an explicit video involving a child which has been distributed via social media. This video is being shared on Instagram and Snapchat and depicts what appears to be a female child engaging in a sexual act with a younger male child. This detail has been provided to ensure that professionals are able to identify this video. This video relates to an investigation by Hampshire Constabulary; the people in the video have been identified and specialist police officers are supporting them to ensure their safety.
Some schools have contacted Norfolk Constabulary about this video so this guidance has been produced to support schools with any further incidents. If you become aware that any pupils have received this explicit video on Snapchat, Instagram or by any other means, you should advise them that it must be deleted immediately. If this video is distributed or shown to someone else, the person distributing this content could be committing a criminal offence which the police may investigate.
Whilst it is not advisable to raise awareness with pupils that this specific content is currently circulating, it is recommended that pupils are reminded of what to do if they receive inappropriate content and the implications of distributing this.
