KeyData pages on EsiNet

(1) Update on Fischer Family Trust Estimates in "KeyData"

Headteachers will be aware that they can access certain information about their school via the 'KeyData' page of the Norfolk Esinet site http://www.esinet.norfolk.gov.uk/smr. The main purpose behind setting up the KeyData page was to enable LA Officers to have a straightforward way of accessing accurate basic information about the schools that they are visiting, working with or have a query about. As it is our policy not to hold data about a school without making it available to the headteacher, KeyData has been made available to schools through the secure area of Esinet. Schools can only see their own information, and the site is password protected.

Some Fischer Family Trust data are included on the KeyData page. These are Type 'C' estimates, which include a significant element of challenge. No direct comparisons are made with these. The comparisons which do appear are the school's actual performance related to the targets the school has set.

When KeyData was first set up it used the most recent FFT data (from a 2004 national database) and incorporated county targets. In most cases these did not match exactly the FFT Type 'C' estimates sent to schools in 2003, which incorporated national targets. Since this has caused some confusion, we have replaced the more recent estimates with the 2003 figures on the KeyData page.

You should be aware that FFT estimates (all types) are updated each year in the light of the most recent results nationally. Wherever possible, schools should make use of the most recent FFT and other estimates that are available to them as these are more likely to give a realistic picture of performance than estimates that are based on datasets from earlier years.

(2) Release of provisional 2005 results

The KeyData and Improving Performance Step by Step pages on EsiNethttp://www.esinet.norfolk.gov.uk/smr will be updated to show provisional 2005 performance data on 1st November.
