SUPPORTING WORK WITH YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SEN IN TRANSITION

Some while ago now I forwarded to you a request for your help in completing a questionnaire compiled by the Eastern Area SEN Regional Partnership. I am very grateful to those of you who were able to help. The partnership had a very good response from five authorities. I attach a copy of the report that was drawn up based on the questionnaires received. I hope you find it interesting. A copy is also located on the SEN Regional Partnership website, www.easttogether.org.uk

It would also be helpful if SENCOs in Secondary Schools and Special Schools, that did not complete a questionnaire, after reading the report let Margaret Palmer know by email margaret@palmerconsulting.net: - if they are broadly in agreement with the report - if there are other issues or examples of good practice they would like to raise.

You will see from the next steps section of the report that the Eastern Area SEN Regional Partnership are hoping to organise a regional event for SENCOs in due course as well as a Good Practice workshop. More details about these will follow. Could I also draw your attention to the guide the Partnership has published "Transition: A professional's Guide to Good Practice in the East of England" These are intended for SENCOs as well as other professionals, and a copy should be going into every school via your Connexions PA.
