Workforce Remodelling Audit

FROM: Peter Simmonds, Remodelling Project Leader
Virginia Wakely, Remodelling Project Officer

The National Workload Agreement, which started in January 2003, saw the last phase (III) begin in September 2006. The Local Authority will need to provide an update on the progress made by each school to the DfES by the end of the Summer Term.

As the Workforce Remodelling Team are very aware that Headteachers have to complete many such audits, it has been decided to try and get the information through an indirect source so that Headteacher workload is kept to a minimum. Following discussions with the Governors' Network (Personnel Group), this information will be sought from governing bodies, as the Relevant Body, via Chairs of Governors, on each phase of the National Workload Agreement. It is hoped that the information needed has already been discussed at Governor level within your school and therefore the need for Chairs of Governors to seek information from you will be reduced or at least minimised.

The purpose of the audit is to:

  • Provide the DfES with an updated picture on where Norfolk schools are with the remodelling agenda - for national comparisons and to provide a global picture;

  • Provide the Local Authority with a snapshot of where we are in regard to workforce development - this will inform future planning for training and support;

  • To gain a County-wide and area perspective on Children's Services personnel and any remaining issues or challenges faced by schools in relation to this.

The audit form will be sent out to Chairs of Governors in the e-courier on 17th March asking for completion, either online or via a hard copy, by 1st May, 2006.

The Remodelling Team would like to thank and congratulate you all on the hard work you have already done within this agenda. Should you require further support or assistance please contact us on 01603 638092
