Guidance for Employees on Internet and E-Mail Use in Schools

Guidance for Employees on Internet and Email Use in Schools

At the request of and in consultation with the recognised Teachers Unions and Unison, we have produced new guidance on Internet and Email use in schools. The unions requested that this advice be produced as a preventative measure to support staff and therefore needs to be read by all school employees that use computers in school and those who use school computers outside the school or at home.

The guidance can be found in a new Section 11 of the Schools Personnel Handbook, 'Guidance for Employees on Internet and Email Use in Schools.' In addition to the trade unions, the new section has been consulted on with an ICT Solutions Consultative Group and should be read in conjunction with the Schools Acceptable Use Policy and Guidelines on Conduct. (published on the Financial and ICT Services website).

We will be drawing Clerks to Governors attention to this policy via Governor Support Services for future inclusion on Governors Agenda.

The School's Personnel Handbook is no longer password protected, so staff can view this procedure, and others. If you have any queries on this new section, please contact Ray Philpott, Senior HR Consultant (Policy).
