A new payroll system has been implemented throughout the County.

Normally payroll is one of the most trouble-free applications, and the vast majority of the data migration has taken place without problems, however I am aware that there have been a number of errors that have occurred between April to August with the transfer of data from the old payroll system and other operational problems. In light of these I am asking schools to ensure that all payroll transactions are monitored more rigorously than normal from period 01 onwards.

We have run some checks at County but the only way of ensuring 100% accuracy is for schools to ensure that the charges are correct. This will mean checking that all your current staff has been coded to your budget at the correct amount of pay or a reasonable estimation. You should note that charges against your budget will be made to correct any omissions or undercharges whenever they come to light.

If you find any problem that have not been reported to your Finance Support Officer, please complete the green queries form (in post) and return to County Hall as normal.

I apologise for the extra burden this may cause and I am aware that some schools do already vigorously monitor payroll transactions. It is however essential to ensure that schools accounts are accurate and complete.
