Fair Processing Under the Data Protection Act -Updated Documents

Due to an administrative error, the wrong Guidance and Letters for Fair Processing Under the Data Protection Act were published on the E-Courier on 1 September 2006. We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this has caused to schools, especially those that have already sent letters to parents.

The Children Act 2004 provides for the Secretary of State to issue Regulations regarding information sharing and Fair Processing. Following the enactment of these regulations in 2006, the DfES has made significant changes to their guidance for schools.

The correct updated guidance notes and letters are attached. Your attention is drawn to the text in bold in the Guidance detailing the main changes.
