SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT ADVISER - AUTUMN TERM AGENDA 2006
1. Pre-visit data analysis to be carried out by the school and the SDA- Analysis of performance data to support discussion in the school.
- Review/update SEF and identification of issues, including links to SIDP. 'Perspective' the online tool from Angel Solutions, purchased by the LA, can be used by schools and by SDAs to facilitate this process.
- Review/complete target-setting.
- The effectiveness of the self-review process, and who has contributed to it.
- Summary of analysis of performance data including CVA for all pupils and for groups.
- Pupil tracking information and evaluation of pupil progress.
- Evaluation of impact of Primary Strategy or other intervention/support.
- Evidence of monitoring of the quality of teaching and learning.
- Evidence against ECM outcomes from other sources (e.g. questionnaires/surveys).
- School Improvement and Development Plan including improvement priorities and action.
- Evidence of targeted use of budget and impact on school improvement.
- Governors' role and actions arising from Headteacher's reports to Governors.
- Joint lesson observation (or evidence from a previous visit).

2. Moderation of SEF and the Self-Review Process
- The school and the SDA should come to an overall evaluation of the quality of the process in preparation for meeting with the headteacher and Chair of Governors.
3. Review meeting with Headteacher and Chair of Governors
- The discussion should be brief and focused. It should aim to verify and/or clarify the evaluation arising from 1 and 2 above. It should aim to recognise and celebrate success, agree ways in which the process and outcomes might be improved, support the school's improvement programme where it is effective and well-focussed, and challenge where this appears not be the case. The Headteacher, Chair of Governors and SDA should also agree the Local Authority grade and support/intervention category for the school. Discussion should also include the agreed LA category for the school, which should be recorded in the key issues listed below.
