Pre Key Stage Standards: Assessing pupils working below the standard of the key stage

This half day event will focus on assessing pupils working below the standard of the key stage. It is suitable for teachers with pupils being educated in either mainstream or specialist provision.

Course Outline

This is an opportunity for delegates to look in depth at the criteria for attainment bands in the pre-key stage teacher assessment frameworks for KS1 and KS2 and the p-scales. Delegates will explore and discuss the examples provided and take part in a professional dialogue about judgements made against their own evidence bases, with a partner. A question and answer session will then conclude the event.

Delegates should bring evidence for writing for two children working below the standard of the key stage.

Delegates will:

  • Develop confidence in accurately assessing pupils against the pre key stage standards and/or P-scales
  • Understand the range of evidence needed to assess accurately against the criteria
  • Gain an understanding of gaps in teaching and learning that need to be addressed
