Primary Gifted and Talented Co-ordinators' Course

We recently issued a flier to all Primary Phase and Special Phase schools regarding the Primary Gifted and Talented (G&T) 4-day co-ordinator training (course ref. no: 6WN109). As a result of the demand for places I am making available more opportunities in the west/south by offering one of the courses at the Gressenhall Museum, near Dereham. This training will be taking place on 29th November 2006, 23rd February 2007, 19th April 2007 and 6th June 2007. As an Associate Tutor of Oxford Brookes (OB), I have delivered this course before; it has been well received nationally, so I am keen to roll out the programme to non-EiC schools in Norfolk. I am fully aware of the pressures on your time/budget etc but this is an excellent opportunity for the co-ordinators to learn more about developing and implementing an effective G&T programme in their schools. The following points may help you to decide:

• The course has been subsidised by OB so the cost is very reasonable.
  
• As it is a 4-day course, spread over the year, the course fees may be paid over 2 financial years.
  
• Although the co-ordinators are encouraged to complete the assessment, as part of what they do already, the assessment is not compulsory.
  
• As I realise that some Headteachers may be co-ordinators and there could be other demands on their time, maybe one co-ordinator would be able to attend from a Cluster with the view to feeding back to other schools.
