SCHOOL BUDGET SHARES

The 2006/07 budget shares were available from the CSF website by 3 February. In accordance with Norfolk’s scheme for Fair Funding budget shares have to be issued by the 28 February. I am aware that it is helpful to schools to make budget shares available as soon as possible as this gives time for schools to complete their budget planning before the start of the new financial year as is recommended in “Keeping Your Balance”. I am keen to help schools in this way.

There is one issue which is critical to achieving an early issue with which you can help me. I am asking for your help in ensuring that you complete the School Census return promptly and send this to County Hall as soon as possible, but no later than Wednesday, 24 January.

There are also other factors which may affect the process. The Norwich reorganisation affects some 100+ schools and this is an added complication. In addition Norwich City Council’s bid for unitary status has thrown a very significant additional workload, which is still not really quantifiable but unlikely also to be finite, on staff who are also involved in the issue of budget shares.

Nevertheless I can assure that all involved will do their best to ensure that budget shares are with you as soon as maybe.
