Learning Platform and ICT Funding advice

Key advice to Secondary Schools on Learning Platforms & ICT Funding

  1. The Local Authority has been given targets (2008 & 2010) and funding by the DfES with advice from BECTa to secure a Managed Learning Environment centrally. This can take place at either Local Authority or E2BN (E2BN - Regional Broadband Consortium.

  2. Schools should consider getting involved in the consultation process through a steering group meeting on 28th March 2007 from 2 - 4 pm Venue : Oaklands Hotel, (89 Yarmouth Road, Norwich NR7 0HH). Please contact the e-Learning Team to book a place.

Schools should carefully consider if any further investments at this moment, met out of school budget, are necessary or will result in a higher "Return On Investment". If you do want to develop your own solution - please read the documents attached as well as the BECTA guidance

We are working towards 2008/2010 targets. The Netmedia solution, available as part of the E2BN offering, already meets the 2008 targets. We will issue further advice with timescales for implementation of further/alternative solutions in the Spring Term.

  3. ICT Funding guidance has been issued by BECTa and can be found here. A small number of printed copies are available from the e-Learning Team.

  4. Schools should work towards a position to be ready to engage purposefully with Learning Platforms.

  • Engage in consultation

  • Support through the Learning Platform Programme (MI 143/06)

  • Complete the SRF(Self Review Framework), Learning Platform Matrix, FITS (Framework for IT Support). An explanation and further guidance is contained in the documents attached.
