Extended Schools Funding
Additional Support for SchoolsIn December 2006, the Schools' Forum decided to allocate the 2006/07 funding directly to each school due to the lateness in the financial year BUT declared an intention to allocate funding to clusters for 2007/08.
Therefore, following the Schools' Forum meeting on 16th March, 2007, the remaining extended schools standards fund will be allocated to the 46 school clusters within the 5 areas/13 localities. This will give each cluster £16,812 for 2007/08 to:
- To support/engender collaboration between cluster schools and partners in regard to the extended services/ECM agenda;
- To support/develop the role of a cluster extended school co-ordinator;
- To support community consultation and the assessment of community needs;
- To contribute to resource setting up costs for new activities.
The allocation of funding to clusters:
- Implies liaison and schools collaborating together - can use existing arrangements;
- Provides a reasonable sum to develop extended services for the wider cluster community;
- Will need clear, open and accessible administration;
A general outline-spending plan will need to be developed before funds are deployed.
It is essential that schools work closely with their allocated locality Early Years, Childcare and Extended Schools Development Worker who will be able to provide expertise and guidance on the development of extended services/activities.
