All Schools Backup Routines and File Naming Conventions
All Schools Back-up ProceduresDue to a number of corruptions of late it has been noted that not all schools are adhering to the correct back up procedures which should be as follows:
Back-Ups must be done every day on a disk rotation basis, using either Zip disk or Cd. We would recommend using five discs in rotation - Monday to Friday.
If backing up on a server please check with your ICT Co-ordinator that this is happening.
Please note that you should back up the whole of your accounts folder from your 'C' or 'D' drive and not the desktop shortcut.
Cash Account Schools only
Please note that when sending uploads for processing the files should be named as follows:
LocationCode.Period
E.g. 9999.01
Please ensure you use the location code and not the DFES number and note that 01 in the example shown relates to April not January.
It is important that files are named exactly as shown above, if not they will not be picked up for payment.
If you have any queries on this please contact your finance support officer.
