Primary National Strategy (PNS) Support Materials for Year 5 and Year 6

These materials have been given a high priority by the PNS and there is an expectation that Headteachers, English and mathematics subject leaders and teachers in Year 5 and Year 6 are aware of and familiar with them.

These materials have been produced by the PNS with the purpose of:

• Helping Y5 and Y6 teachers plan to strengthen transition to enable progression and continuity in learning as children move towards the end of KS2.
• Reminding schools about the 'timetable' for monitoring attainment and progress, target setting and intervention materials.
• Support schools with their planning the use and implementation of the Renewed frameworks for Literacy and mathematics.
• Providing some activities the parents and carers might undertake with children out of school.
