Extended Schools Programme
Extended Schools Programme
As schools are no doubt aware, the DfES expectation is that every school in the country will provide access to a core offer of services by 2010. For more details of the core offer of services, please click here. Therefore, in January 2006 (see MI 11/06) Norfolk schools were given the opportunity to access an extended schools package of training, planning and development support, and the first tranche of schools commenced their training in March 2006. This training programme has been ongoing on a termly basis, with Tranche 4 schools having commenced in April 2007. To date, over 210 Norfolk schools have accessed the Extended Schools programme.
As we approach the half way point in the roll-out of the extended schools training, the Norfolk programme has been modified to better fit where schools and clusters are now in this agenda and to reflect any changes to core offer definitions. As a result, we will be offering 4 separate support modules:
Module 1: Introduction to the Extended Schools Programme
Module 2: Moving Forward and Planning
Module 3: Consultation
Module 4: Planning for Sustainability
which can be accessed in total or on a 'pick and mix' basis from the Autumn Term onwards. For more information on dates and times, please click here.
- For those schools/clusters that have not yet accessed the training programme, this includes a contribution towards supply costs and expenses on a pro-rata basis, depending on attendance at one, some, or all of the modules. Schools/clusters will need to contact their area based Early Years, Childcare and Extended Schools Development Worker to discuss their participation, including bringing along any potential partners to workshop events.
- For those schools/clusters that have already accessed the training programme but feel that, at this stage, one or more of the modules would be of benefit, it is possible to attend an appropriate workshop. However, there will be no contribution to supply/expenses although the modules are free. Schools/clusters will need to contact their area based Early Years, Childcare and Extended Schools Development Worker to discuss their attendance.
