Safeguarding: Aspirant Teacher Acceptance Form

Aspirant Teacher Acceptance Form

The question of whether or not a CRB check is essential for the group of people known as 'aspirant teachers' has often been raised. To clarify, these are people who are either in the process of applying for a place on a teacher-training course or who are contemplating doing so.

All teacher-training applicants are required to spend at least five days observing teaching and learning and familiarising themselves with the contemporary LA maintained school environment prior to being interviewed by the teacher-training institution of their choice.

As they should never be left unsupervised with children/students during this period an enhanced CRB check is not necessary and very time consuming.

After consultation with HR it has been agreed that a List 99 check together with completion of an 'ASPIRANT TEACHER' ACCEPTANCE FORM' should be sufficient safeguarding.
