School Workforce Performance and Development

School Workforce Performance and Development

As a result of changes in the national agenda, the role and remit of Peter Simmonds, Extended Schools Workforce Remodelling Manager, has been modified.

From 1st January, 2008, Peter's role will become:

Manager for School Workforce Performance and Development

Peter will continue to be the named Norfolk link with the Training and Development Agency (TDA) in regard to extended schools services/school workforce reform and development. He will also continue to be the channel for data on extended schools' progress in Norfolk and to lead the support programme to engage schools in this agenda. However, all other operational extended schools activities, links to other key stakeholders and the development of partnerships, will be managed from within each area team. The strategic responsibility for extended services will remain with the Head of Early Years, Marcelle Curtis, who will work in collaboration with the Head of Community Learning and Development, Martyn Livermore.

In regard to the school workforce, Peter will be further developing and continuing strong links within Children's Services, the schools' HR team and the Primary and Secondary School Development teams. His main areas of focus will be:

* Ensuring sustainability of the National Agreement contractual changes in liaison with the local Workforce Agreement Monitoring Group (local WAMG),
* Continuing to support workforce remodelling, and change management processes,
* Developing succession planning in partnership with TDA, National College of School Leadership (NCSL), including headteacher induction,
* Securing career pathways for staff in schools,
* Performance management monitoring and support,
* Leadership and management development throughout the school workforce,
* Continuous Professional Development (CPD) leadership development,
* Securing the workforce for the Norfolk schools of the future,
* Delivery, as necessary, of roll-out training/briefing sessions for schools on relevant national initiatives.

Peter will remain in the Early Years, Childcare and Extended Schools Services Team, Room 117 County Hall, together with his team members:
Denise Beckett, Training & Development Co-ordinator for School Support Staff and Virginia Wakely, School Workforce Performance and Development Officer.

This change to Peter's role and remit strengthens the coherence and consistency of ongoing advice and support to schools since the advent of the National Agreement 'Raising Standards and Tackling Workload' in 2003.

If you have any query on this, please do not hesitate to contact Peter on 01603 638092 or mobile 07795 265669 or via e-mail.
