Norfolk Leading Teachers Scheme

Norfolk Leading Teachers Scheme

Norfolk Leading Teachers for English as an Additional Language

The Leading Teachers Scheme was re-launched in Norfolk in 2007. We are now in a position to offer training opportunities for enthusiastic primary teachers, who are experienced in working with bilingual pupils, to become Leading Teachers in developing EAL approaches in line with the National Strategies.

Training will be given to interested applicants. This training will cover EAL pedagogy and good practice and will offer the opportunity to become familiar with the materials contained in 'Excellence and Enjoyment: learning and teaching for bilingual children in the primary years' and the 'New Arrivals Excellence Programme'.

This initiative will be launched with a full day's training at the Turner Road Centre on 17 03 2009. This will be followed by supported work in school (a school based task together with lesson observations) and a follow up day to consolidate knowledge and share good practice.

Access to the Leading Teacher Scheme
If one or more teachers in your school would be interested in taking up this opportunity, please make a request by emailing Nicola Dunkley in the first instance.

Supply cover will be provided to allow teachers to be released for this training.
