School Budgets 2008/09

The 2008/09-school budget allocation will be published on the web site under Finance/Budget Area/Budget Share/2008/09 by Friday 8th February. The budget share software will be available via anycoms on the same day. The budget needs to be completed, signed and returned to your Finance Support Officer by 1st May.

6th Form Funding

Unfortunately this will exclude all 6th form funding from the Learning Skills Council as we have not been notified of their allocations. In the cases of special schools and schools with 6th forms this includes part of your threshold allocation. We will notify these schools as soon as possible.

Social Deprivation

Social deprivation is now calculated on 50% Free School Meals and 50% IMD, schools have been protected to a level of the previous methodology if this is higher than the new method. This protection will remain for all of the three years.

Balances

The government withdrew their proposal on claw back of balances but the Norfolk balance control mechanism will still apply.

Specialist Resource Bases

Schools who currently have Units for learning, Language and assessment have been funded on the old formula until August. Those who have been identified as continuing to host a unit have been funded at the new rate from August. If the school originally had a 24 place unit they will receive 50% protection for reducing in numbers, this will also apply to schools where a unit has been identified for closure.
It is important to note that this method has been adopted in order to calculate budget shares and does not preclude any changes to circumstances being agreed with individual schools.
