Guidance Notes on Assessing Children who are Learning English as an Additional Language

Further to the autumn term MI sheet 172/07 on important changes to the Foundation Stage Profile for the current school year, there is now additional guidance for assessing pupils with English as an Additional Language which can be located on the National Assessment Agency (NAA) site. Any schools with children in the foundation stage who have English as an additional language are advised to access this information.

Also on the NAA site is document entitled 'Additional Guidance on completing Foundation Stage Profile Assessments’. This includes clarification of some tricky scale points in Communication Language and Literacy and Creative Development, both areas of learning which are being moderated this year.
