Norfolk Secondary Learning Platform - Fronter Training Programme
Norfolk Secondary Learning Platform - Fronter Training Programme
We are pleased to confirm the support arrangements for the implementation of our Norfolk Secondary Learning Platform. Most schools are aware of Government targets associated with the Harnessing Technology Strategy to provide every learner with an online learning space by 2008 and a more integrated learning platform by 2010. The Norfolk Learning Platform will meet those requirements.Schools and stakeholder groups were heavily involved in the procurement process to ensure it meets both Norfolk's and individual school requirements. We are delighted to be working with Fronter UK on this exciting development.
We have devised a carefully planned implementation process, which will be tailored to individual school needs and relies on the involvement of three people: a sponsor (Head Teacher or SLT member); an e-learning advocate, who will lead on school based training (teacher); and an administrator (ICT Co-ordinator or Network Manager). The process includes further guidance on these roles and associated expectations. A flow diagram of key milestones is attached to this MI Sheet.
A successful implementation in your school relies on good preparation. Schools will need to complete the Learning Platform Functionality Matrix and the BECTA ICT Self Review Framework as part of that preparation. A more detailed explanation of the implementation process, training and technical setup is available in the attached documents.
A pilot programme is already underway with 4 schools (Fakenham High, Long Stratton High, Reepham High and Sprowston High). We are inviting schools not in the pilot, to choose the starting date for the Learning Platform Implementation in their school. The early elements (technical implementation, legacy migration and Fronter training) of the three year implementation programme will take approximately one term to complete. The following starting dates are available:
Phase 1 | 1st September 2008 | 15 schools |
Phase 2 | 3rd November 2008 | 12 schools |
Phase 3 | 5th January 2009 | 15 schools |
