In addition to the SENCO Essential Skills Programme, termly training sessions, 'free' at the point of delivery are available to new SENCOs during their first year of practice.

Supported development training sessions will be organised for new SENCOs, (during their first year of practice) and hosted by the Senior Adviser SEN and Inclusion at both Norwich and King's Lynn. The afternoon training sessions will be designed to:

  • Increase confidence, knowledge and skills of newly appointed SENCOs within Norfolk Children's Services schools and settings.

  • Provide a forum to share practice, problem solve and offer peer support to new colleagues.

  • Ensure greater consistency of SEN practice amongst schools across Norfolk Children's Services.

    "The role of the SENCO - clarification of roles, responsibilities, organisation and management issues. "

    "SEN from paper to practice - exploring the required paper trail of a SENCO and the essential impact on practice."
