Building Schools for the Future: Briefing
Building Schools for the Future (BSF)
Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is a major Government investment programme designed not only to renew the fabric and accommodation of all secondary schools, but also to have a transformational impact on teaching and learning
to create schools for the 21st century. On 19 September Norfolk was invited by the
Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to resubmit an expression of interest for inclusion in waves 7 to 15. The deadline for that submission is 30 November 2008. If you wish to know more of the details of what we are being required to do, you can find the DCSF guidance at
www.teachernet.gov.uk/bsf and www.partnershipsforschools.org.uk
In order that we can brief and discuss the principles that should inform the submission with headteachers, governors and Local Members we have arranged three meetings:
- Wednesday 8 October, at Norwich Professional Development Centre
- Thursday 9 October, at West Norfolk Professional Development Centre
- Monday 13 October, at Hethel Engineering Centre, Chapman Way, Hethel, NR14 8FB
Headteachers and one governor representative from the curriculum or premises committees are invited to attend the first session from 3 – 5pm; Local Members and other interested governors are invited to attend the second session from 5 – 6pm.
We apologise for the extremely tight timescale but do hope that your school can be represented at one of the events. To help with our planning it would be helpful if you could confirm who intends to attend by emailing
Janine Birt or telephoning 01603 223905.
