The PPL licence covers the public use of sound recordings (records, tapes, cds) at schools. A licence is not required for curricular use e.g. assemblies, physical education classes, music lessons, drama lessons.

The licence covers:-

	Exercise to Music - aerobics etc.
	Background Music - whether by CD, tape, hard disc system etc.
	Music Videos
	Special Featured Entertainment Events - including discos or music quizzes
	Music on Hold

Children's Services purchases a blanket licence which covers all NCC Schools for these purposes.

PPL require assistance from all of our schools to submit a quarterly report detailing the music tracks used by dance groups/teachers that use the school premises for extra curricular activities. It is important that this information is provided as the money paid for the licence by NCC is then distributed by PPL to the individual performers and record labels who produce the music that is being used.
