VA and Foundation Schools Pensions Auto Reenrolment

You will have already have received information from the Pension Regulator on the requirement to complete a Declaration of Compliance by the end of August.

This relates to the legal obligation on your school as a "separate legal entity" to enrol eligible job holders into a pension scheme (auto re-enrolment).

For those schools that buy a payroll service from Norfolk County Council, the payroll team has run your re-enrolment, but you must complete the declaration. Your school has already been sent the necessary information to do this. If you buy a payroll service from elsewhere, you will need to contact your provider.

Urgent action

If you have not already done so, you must complete the declaration by 30 August 2019. There is the possibility of a fine for not meeting this requirement.

The task takes up to 30 minutes and can be done by a business support team member.

The Pensions Regulator has sent you a letter with a code on it to complete the declaration.

If you haven't got this, phone the Regulator on 0345 6001011 and give them the:

  • Step 1 - Login or register here. Your school may have registered in 2016 when you did your last Declaration. You can register under a new email address, request a new passcode or sign in as a guest if you can't find the login details.
  • Step 2 -Compete the declaration of compliance, using information we have already sent to you (or available through your provider if payroll is purchased elsewhere).

Please confirm for our records that you have completed the declaration by emailing robert.malin@norfolk.gov.uk.

Please note:

We are aware of a small number of schools who have attempted to complete their Declaration but have been told by the Pensions Regulator that they are not registered as a separate legal entity with them. If you receive communication from the Pension Regulator which says this is the case for your school, please obtain confirmation by email and forward to robert.malin@norfolk.gov.uk
