Barclays Notification about Microsoft Windows 7
All digital channels system administrators identified as having Windows 7 users in their business, were sent an email on Thursday 28 November as part of Barclays' commitment to ensure all schools can use their digital channels in a safe and secure way.
The email notified them of this date and requesting them to upgrade to a supported operating system. Barclays also explained that, from this date, they won’t be able to offer any Windows 7-specific user support. As no security updates will be issued, computers running Windows 7 will be vulnerable to malware infection and other security risks.
While our schools should ensure they use the latest supported hardware and software, Barclays will not immediately block access to their digital channels for Windows 7 users. It’s their intention to do so later next year, and Barclays will provide further details of those plans in Q1 2020.
Barclays will issue a reminder email to all remaining Windows 7 clients before Tuesday, 14 January 2020.
