Consultation on proposed changes - Keeping Children Safe in Education, September 2020

The Department for Education is seeking views on a wide variety of proposed changes to the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education for September 2020. The changes seek to provide further clarification on a number of aspects of school's safeguarding responsibilities including promoting the educational outcomes for children who need or have needed a social worker. Annex G of the proposed document provides a summary of substantive changes.

In addition, the consultation also seeks views on revised departmental non-statutory advice covering sexual violence and sexual harassment between children in schools and colleges.

The consultation was issued on 25 February and closes on 21 April 2020.

It is recommended that senior leaders read the consultation documents and respond to the consultation. We will offer further advice once we know the outcome of the consultation.

Schools and colleges should continue to have regard to the 2019 version of Keeping Children Safe in Education.
