Update on TITAN services and the launch of ReAdy to Go! (formerly RAG)

MI sheet 63/20 published on 29 May 2020 provided an update to the Travel Independence Training (TITAN) service and plans for the delivery of the Summer Buddy Service 2020. This notice provides information on the launch of the redesigned TITAN in-schools/college travel independence programme ReAdy to Go! (currently known as Red Amber Green RAG).

Services are targeted at young people with EHCP/SEND needs supporting them to travel independently to their post 16 educational establishment, as part of their transition to adulthood.

Key updates

Launch of ReAdy to Go! - Travel Independence training programme in secondary and special schools

The ReAdy to Go! Travel Independence training programme is for secondary and post 16 students enrolled in college/learning provider settings. It has been developed by the TITAN team over the last few months, with invaluable support and constructive feedback from a range of 'critical' friends including school and college colleagues in both SEND and mainstream settings and from education and social care colleagues who support young people and their families with EHCPs and SEND support.

ReAdy to Go! is a major element of the revised approach by the TITAN team to the design and delivery of travel independence training activities, providing integration from primary level through to post 16, focussing on working with young people to become independent travellers This is a modular programme, delivered primarily in school/college, by education staff with support from TITAN colleagues at appropriate points, and allowing flexibility of learning and progression for all individuals.

In developing the ReAdy to Go! model, consideration has been given to The Norfolk Area SEND Strategy 2019-2022, Norfolk's Vital Signs for Children, the Department for Education's four Preparing for Adult Life (PfAL) outcomes, the Statutory Guidance on Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education (September 2020), as well as a desire for increased and effective family/parental involvement.

Educators have the freedom to deliver training in a way that fits in with their own training and education offer. They will be able to deliver to the relevant cohort of young people within the parameters of the TITAN framework. The new framework underpins the principles of Norfolk County Council's Home to school and college transport policy.

During March 2021, TITAN will be hosting a series of online sessions for secondary schools/colleges to provide an overview of TITAN, an introduction to ReAdy to Go! including the framework, modules and showcasing supporting resources for education colleagues. We would encourage colleagues to attend a session, preferably the one hosted in their own locality, to find out more about ReAdy to Go! and what this exciting development will mean for your school and your students.

For information, dates of the online information sessions are shown below. Your TITAN Locality Coordinator will be in touch with school colleagues directly regarding sign up to one of these sessions.

West and Breckland Tuesday 4 March 15:45-16:15
or
Thursday 6 March 15:45-16:15
City and South Tuesday 11 March 15:45-16:15
or
Thursday 13 March 15:45-16:15
Great Yarmouth and North Tuesday 18 March 15:45 - 16:15
or
Thursday 15:45-16:15

Further introductory sessions may be added if required. After the workshops TITAN Locality Coordinators will follow up with all schools to agree their level of engagement in ReAdy to Go! via a Working Together Agreement (WTA).

Working Together Agreement (WTA)

To help ensure the TITAN team can offer the optimum level of support required by each school/college and effectively prioritise available resources, schools/colleges will be kindly requested to sign a Working Together Agreement (WTA). This will 'formalise' the working arrangement and clarify responsibilities for each party, it will also allow schools to select from a range of options in terms of the level of support, activities and training. WTAs will be introduced from Monday 22 February 2021 and phased in for schools as they sign up to TITAN ReAdy to Go! . Initially running to the end of this academic year 20/21, WTAs will then be renewed annually at the start of each academic year, taking account of feedback and continued support requirements.

Cessation of existing RAG programme

For those schools already familiar with TITAN, ReAdy to Go! will replace the existing RAG programme. Please be advised the existing RAG programme will be phased out over the summer term 2021 and will no longer be supported by Norfolk County Council post 31 August 2021. Any materials schools may have should no longer be used after this date and any reference to the school's participation in the Norfolk County Council RAG programme should be removed from school materials/website etc.

Should schools have any queries, the initial point of contact is their Locality Coordinator.
