Time to Read Your Utility Meters

As part of the government's drive to encourage energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, there is a requirement for the county council to report energy consumption data to government for inclusion in the National Indicator 185 (Percentage CO2 reduction from Local Authority operations).

Once again this year we need your assistance to get current, accurate data on your energy usage. To this end we need you to send us your meter readings, stock level information as read on or before 31 March 2021 for oil, gas, propane, electricity and water as well as any metered renewables that you may have. There is also an obligation to report on solid fuel deliveries and as a consequence any non-ESPO contract solid fuel delivery dates and quantities are also required.

The readings you supply this year will also feed into Norfolk County Council's energy management system. This, along with previous years' data and readings, will be used for, amongst other things, calculating consumption patterns, linking into the Display Energy Certificates programme and in identifying possible water leaks and other wastage, thus saving you money.

The information required is as follows:

  • Meter readings for all utility meters (including any renewables)
  • Stock levels for all stored fuel tanks
  • All delivery quantities and delivery dates in the past financial year for heating oil
  • Delivery quantities and delivery dates for all propane/LPG
  • Delivery quantities and delivery dates for all biomass

If you need assistance with reading your electricity or gas meter, there are helpful guides on EDF Energy's website for reading an electricity meter and a gas meter.

It is appreciated that water meters may be very difficult to access and we understand if you are unable to provide a reading. However, if there are difficulties in accessing or reading the water meter, please submit a billed meter reading along with the reading date and details provided on your last water invoice.

If for any reason you are unable to access your utility meter(s) or the online recording form, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting Michael Dawson on 01603 774742.

Please use this link to Annual Meter Readings within MySchool to submit your data online. Much of the information has already been inputted for you, all you need to do is double check the information is correct, click on "New Reading" and input your readings.

Thank you for your help; it really is appreciated.
