Changes to the delivery of Radiological Protection Monitoring Inspections/Audits

Norfolk County Council have revised their Radiological Protection Officer (RPO) inspections in line with CLEAPSS advice to conduct RPO audits virtually until further notice.

Schools were notified of the new arrangements in the CLEAPSS bulletin and asked to accommodate requests made by the RPO's to send in evidence via email. As a result of this notification, Norfolk County Council has reviewed and updated the RPO checklist (which would usually be completed by us as your appointed RPO at the time of the visit) to reflect the guidance.

The new audit will be sent via email which will include a link to the audit checklist. Once completed, the form will be automatically sent to the Health, Safety and Well-being team for review.

When the RPO has received your completed form, they will review your answers alongside all the information provided and respond in a written report which will detail any recommendations and/or non-compliances where appropriate.

Due to the impact of the pandemic, we currently have a backlog of RPO audits. Therefore, we will review results in the order in which returns are received on our system. Please be aware this may take 6-8 weeks.

Should you have any concerns or need further assistance, please contact the Health and Safety team on healthandsafety@norfolk.gov.uk or by telephone on 01603 573562.
