Term Dates 21/22: Impact of Additional Bank Holiday

There will be an extra bank holiday on 3 June 2022 to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. This day falls in the summer half term break and has been updated in the Norfolk Model Calendar.

However, we are aware of the Government's recent change in regulations (June 2021) to reduce the number of teaching days from 190 days (+ 5 Inset days) to 189 days (+ 5 Inset days) for the academic year 2021/2022. This is in recognition that for some areas, the bank holiday does not fall in half term. There is an intention to change STPCD for 2021-22 to reflect the change to regulations to make the maximum working day for teachers 189 days.

Consequently, we are proposing the following for the academic year 21/22 only.

Schools can select the 1 additional day when the school will be closed. We suggest that you work with your local schools to minimise the impact on families and school transport changes. Jan 5th, 20th April might be suitable days.

Once you have decided on your date please inform school transport via ptgnetwork@norfolk.gov.uk, and update the term calendar on your school website.
