Norfolk Appropriate Body Induction for Early Career Teachers
Appropriate Bodies will continue to play an important role in statutory teacher induction. It is statutory that all Early Career Teachers have access to an ECT package and are registered with an Appropriate Body.
Norfolk Appropriate Body (NAB) will continue to provide schools and early career teachers (ECTs) with a robust induction service which includes support, advice and guidance in line with the revised directive. Our scheme is underpinned by our drive to recruit and retain the best teachers. We ensure compliance of the statutory regulations so all ECTs receive a personalised programme of support to give them the best start.
Service provision covers the following:
Support, advice and guidance from a dedicated, experienced team
Essential briefings and Welcome sessions
A fully inclusive support package for vulnerable ECTs
Access to a bank of resources and a handbook
Rigorous quality assurance programme which will include fidelity checking in accordance with the new guidance for the Early Career Framework
Registering and start date:
All schools/ institutions using NAB should register their ECT on our on-line database, ECT Manager. The start date for induction should be the date when the ECT's induction programme formally commences. This may be a different date from when the ECT's contract starts.
Essential training for school personnel responsible for induction
Norfolk Appropriate Body will deliver virtual sessions covering statutory responsibilities for those staff involved in induction, including induction tutors and headteachers. Details can be found on ECT Manager
The charge from September 2021 will be £100 per term/ECT. This gives the school and ECT access to our complete support package.
Concessions
Schools with over five ECTs will receive a 10 percent reduction for each additional teacher registered.
