National Funding Formula (NFF) for schools for 2022/23 financial year
At the end of the summer term the DfE set out their National Funding Formula (NFF) for schools for the 2022/23 financial year, alongside the outcomes of their consultations for changes to sparsity funding and changes to the payment process of schools' business rates.
Key changes to the National Funding Formula for 2022/23 are:
- 3% increase to most pupil-led factors (2% for minimum per pupil levels and free school meals)
- £10,000 increase to the maximum sparsity values, with sparsity distances based on road distances instead of straight-line distances, and the introduction of a new sparsity distance taper to reduce cliff-edges in funding between years
- Schools' business rates will be paid by the ESFA directly to billing authorities
