Ofsted Focused Visit - Children In Care

On 28 September we received the announcement that Ofsted will be carrying out a focused visit on our children in care services in Norfolk commencing 5 October. This will take place over 2 days. Key lines of enquiry will be drawn from what Ofsted already know about Norfolk and themes that emerge from performance data.

The inspection team will arrive at County Hall on Tuesday to start gathering their evidence. Initial feedback will be given to the Director of Children's Services on the Wednesday afternoon.

At this stage we do not think schools will be involved or invited to attend meetings for any lines of enquiries the inspectors make or any multi-agency meetings they attend. They have asked to meet with the Head of the Virtual School. However, should the timetable change and we need anyone to attend any meeting we will of course let you know.

Please can you communicate this to any relevant staff in your organisation so that they are aware of the visit and ask that they prepare for any involvement that may be required, and also to consider any children in care at your schools that may be involved in the visit.

If you are contacted and want to discuss your engagement further please do not hesitate to contact Chris Snudden via Chloe Murchie chloe.murchie@norfolk.gov.uk or the NCC Children's Services Inspection and Development Project Manager Lisa Flood-Powell on 01603 222447.
