BARCLAYS Barclays.net USERS for iPortal

From 18 October, users who open up the login page for Barclays.net will log on but be taken to the I-portal homepage (it is likely the first time this happens they will have to set up an I-portal memorable word and pass code), they will then need to click on the Barclays.net button and will continue to use Barclays.net as normal.

This is Barclays approach to making their systems a single sign on.

The suggestion is also that people who have access to prepare or authorise payments in .net will then have this ability in I-portal (but for single payments only I.e. not BACS batches). But although this access may be there if they click on the Barclays.net button they should continue to process as normal.

They have said the idea is that you could prepare a payment in .net and you could then authorise it in I-portal and vice versa, they would both feed off the same infrastructure and systems in the background. Eventually I-portal may be available on mobile phone so in the future payments could be authorised on the go.

But in very simple terms at this stage it should just be that from Monday users will have to login to what will be I-portal to then go into Barclays.net.
