Amendments to the Norfolk Model Safeguarding Policy
On 1 September 2021 the updated statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' (2021) came into force. This included updates to Part 4 regarding concerns that do not meet the harm threshold. These are called low level concerns.
The Education Safeguarding Team would like to clarify the procedure in Norfolk for recording and reporting low level concerns. This means minor changes have been made to Part 12, specifically paragraphs 12.11 to 12.13 of the Norfolk model Safeguarding Policy which can be found on our website.
Changes include:
- Clarifying what a low-level concern is
- The importance of all staff understand what low-level concerns are and the need to report these in writing
- Clarifying to whom staff should report low level concerns.
It is a matter for individual schools / Academy Trusts to choose whether to have a separate low-level concerns policy.
